About

I love food, adventure and creative expression. My hope is that this blog will combine all three of these passions and make you drool. The Provender will only feature meals and restaurants that I deem worthy of taking my time to share and worthy of your time to read about. Bon Appetit!

  1. Excellent review of Le Calandre. I visited the restaurant a number of years ago and the review is up on my old blog at http://www.oad.typepad.com. I would like to invite you to participate in our dining guide. I have just released the 2009 results for Europe and the U.S/Canadian results were released back in April. You can read them or download them at my url and there is a link where you can register to rate restaurants on the sidebar. Thanks!

  2. Hi Chad,
I was sitting next to you @ Ludo Bites tonight, so I dropped by your blog. Nice work! Did you enjoy your meal tonight? What were your faves? I regularly go to The Slanted Door, and you had pics of two items (the hue rice dumplings and the roast pork w/ grapes) that I’ve yet to try. The pics look so good, that I’ll definitely have them when I’m in SF next month. For what it’s worth, my fave dishes in LA are:
#1 Il Grano’s Open Spinach Raviolo w/ Creamed Corn & Lobster; #2 Vincenti’s Strozzapreti Bolognese (an off menu item that, if you ask for it, they’ll make it); #3 Osteria Mozza’s Tagliata; #4 Father’s Office’s Soft Shell Crab w/ Thai Chili Vinaigrette and Corn (a summer chalkboard special); and #5 Nobu’s “Kamameshi” dessert. Congratulations on your engagement. Al McMordie

Thanks for checking out The Provender. I’m thrilled you like it. I like you list of LA favs (I’ll need to start developing one of my own) and I think I will have to try them and post them to the Blog. Please keep checking in for more postings and tell your foodie friends.

      Best,

      Chad
